Happy New Year! There’s something about the start of a new year that makes the world feel full of possibilities and I can’t think of a better place to embrace them than the mountains. Whether it’s the crisp air at the summit, the quiet of a snowy alpine forest, or the thrill of discovering a new trail, the mountains remind us that life is meant to be explored.
Welcome to The Altitude Edit where we are all about seeking new perspectives, planning thoughtful adventures, and finding joy in both the journey and the view. We’ll be sharing alpine hikes, mountain destinations, travel tips, and the little moments that make exploring these places so special.
Mini Mountain Guide: Trails to Explore This Year
Here are a few alpine hikes and mountain destinations I’m excited to discover and explore this year:
Hiking Oeschinensee - One of the most stunning alpine hikes around the extremely blue and beautiful Oeschinensee, best done during the late spring and summer months, multiple trail options for all levels.
Exploring the famous mountain village of Zermatt & seeing the Matterhorn - Zermatt is a picture-perfect alpine village where charming streets meet towering peaks, and the Matterhorn rises like a crown over the landscape. Seeing it in person is unforgettable—its dramatic, jagged silhouette and snowy slopes make every moment feel like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Volcano Hiking on the island of La Palma, Tenerife - Hiking on La Palma is a volcanic adventure like no other, where rugged lava landscapes meet lush forests and dramatic crater views. Each trail reveals a raw, otherworldly beauty, making every step a breathtaking journey across volcanic landscapes and lush greenery.

Finding Meaning in the Mountains
Beyond the trails, the mountains are a place to pause, reflect, and find perspective. There’s a calm in high altitudes that encourages you to slow down, breathe, and notice the little details—the crunch of snow underfoot, the sharp scent of pine, or the way light hits a valley at dawn.
We are here to celebrate those moments, share tips, and inspire your own alpine adventures.
